There’s been a lot of talk about getting back to ‘normal’ lately. But a pause from the usual has shown me even more clearly that what we call normal isn’t necessarily healthy.
I awake feeling under the weather. Today is not the day for pushing myself, or ignoring my needs. I start the day extra-slow, permission to go easy on myself. My chosen practice is self-kindness, so it doesn't have to look like my usual morning meditation.
I start with a wander. I'm out earlier than most, just me and the dog owners. It's raining, and the woodland is alive with the music of drops and splashes.
